Isaniwa Shrine

The main shrine of Isaniwa Shrine lies on the east side of Mt. Kanmuri and on the end of the southeast side of Mt.Dogo.
This main shrine was the internal shrine of Engi-style(the style of the middle period of the Heian era) and was worshiped by the family of Kohno as guardian deity of Yuzuki Castle.
The existing main shrine was rebuilt by Sadanaga Matsudaira, the lord of Matsuyama Castle, in Kanbun 4 (1664) and modeled after Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine in Kyoto(the guardian deity of Genji). It handed down faithfully to posterity and was designated as the national important properties.
