Issoh-an (Santoka Taneda)



"Heilstones came down into even my iron bowl in my hands" (Santoka)

The sub-monument said "In 2601 of Emperor era, Vernal Equinox Day, built by his friend".
This monument was built in 21th, Mar. of 1941(Showa 16).
This Haiku was composed by Santoka at Ashiya-cho, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu, in 8th Jan. of 1932(Showa 7). This Haiku appeared in the "Gyokotsu-ki II" describing "It was very cold today.
The coldest season set on the 6th of day before yesterday, so it really should be cold. It seems much like the pilgrimage to walk getting wet directly with snow and splash of wave". The distance he had walked that day were four-ri(about 23.5 kilo-meters).
