The portrait of Issa
There is a portrait of Issa in the Haiku Poetry "Issa Hokku Shu" that was
published in Bunnsei 12(1820) at the third anniversary of his death by his 14
followers.
" Onore no sugata ni iu"
Hiikimeni mitesae Samuki Soburikana
"Speak to my own appearance"
I look like very cold
Even seen
in the most favorable light
