two shrines : Yusen Dai-myoujin in Nasu and Iwashimizu Hachimangu in Kyoto.
Iwashimizu : The spring gushed out among rocks. An alias Hot spring.This Haiku monument was built on a little level ground, called "Sugi-no-dan ; the platform of Japan cedar", where is half way up a hill from the northern entrance of the park.
The following two lines were carved on the reverse side of this monument ;
"At the 200th anniversary of the old Basho's death."
"Built by Shugaku Hachisuka."
About in 1893 (Meiji 26), in Yukiya Isaniwa's mayoralty of Dogo, the treasurer, Takuzo Ochi and Takezou Hachisuka developed the amusement park and a tea shop called "Shino-tei" rebuilding the old building of "Kamino-yu ; Hot-Spring of God".
This Haiku was composed by Basho at Nasu Spa of Shimotsuke-no-kuni (the present Tochigi Prefecture) in 1689 (Genroku 2).
