Ishiteji Temple



"A limitless number of sky
Among the fresh green leaves of sakura
Are rustling in the breeze"
(Bon Shinohara)

On Oct. 7th of 1976 (Showa 51), this Haiku monument was unveiled reminding Bon Shinohara.
That day fell on the 1st anniversary of Bon's death. His real name is Toshiyuki and played an active part in Chuou-kouron-sha as chief editor.
This Haiku appeared in Haiku magazine, "Sekinan" and he composed unique works by keen senses, up-to-date intelligence and pliant rhythm.
The pen name of "Bon" was named after that people call a child "Bon" in Matsuyama.
At the unveiling ceremony, Gafu Kawamoto, editor of Haiku Magazine,
"Itadori", presented the following Haiku ;
"Bon's Haiku monument was built
    Being reluctant to part from autumn season
            Just on this very day" 
                                        (Gafu) 
His grave was located in Joushinji Temple in Iwaidani, Matsuyama.
