The northern edge of Tateishi Bridge (Kitaido-cho)

"Drizzle rain is passing through
From Inside River till Outside River now
In the late autumn evening"

This Haiku was composed by Shiki in the winter of 1892 (Meiji 25).
Inside River in this Haiku located between Ishite River and Shigenobu River and at the south of Yoshiki River. Inside River is so called "Uchi-kawa" that it flows inside of Shigenobu River of outside.
There is no record in the reverse side of this monument, but it must be built celebrating the completion of Tateishi Bridge newly built with the foundation of Matsuyama Central High School, on March of 1988 (Showa 63).
