Oguri Shrine(Yugun Shrine)

This Haiku was appeared in Shiki's Haiku poetry "Sansaku-shu". On Oct. 7th of 1895 (Meiji 28), Shiki hired a rickshaw to go to Seigetsu Murakami's residence at his invitation, and on his way, he dropped in Shoujouji Temple to call for Ishuku. But Ishuku didn't accept Shiki's proposal .
At that time, he came to near Oguri Shrine, he composed this Haiku entitled Gosho persimmon (A kind of Japanese persimmon).

Oguri Shrine is present Yugun Shrine.

The road lead to the vicinity of of Yodo, Imade when Shiki was alive. This Haiku monument was built in the precincts of the Shrine by Hosan-kai of the Shrine, on March of 1972 (Showa 47).
The characters on this monument were the enlarged copy of "kanzan Rakuboku".
