"I have just arrive at The gate of temple where little cuckoos Are chirping here and there" (Fumi Hatano)
Built by the members of Tamamo-kai in Matsuyama in 1982 (Showa 57).
Fumi Hatano whose previous name was Ikeda and real name was Sadako, got married with Shinpei Hatano in 1917 (Taisho 6). Both husband and wife spent a lot of their time composing Haiku. Futami studied under Tsurujo Imai and established Tamamo-kai in Matsuyama (Haiku Association) and was inaugurated as the president of it on the recommendation of Tsurujo in 1949 (Showa 24) and was put up for the member of "Hototogisu" in 1978 (Showa 53).
She was enthusiastic in the service for the public and Red Cross Service Party. Haiku monument at Russian Cemetery was built by Red Cross Service Party and we are touched by that her birthday fall on Jan.16 connected to the "Cherry Blossoms of Izayoi" ("Izayoi" is the 16th night in a month) that was appeared in the monument.
She died in 1990 (Heisei 2) at the age of 95.Myojo-in Temple is located on the slightly high hill from that we can get a full view of the district of Hirai.
The principal image of the bodhisattva of kwannon (the Goddess of Mercy) with eleven faces was installed in the main building and well-known as the three kwannon in Iyo Country including Mt.Takami and Mt.Takanawa.
Many people have faith in this Kwannon that is called "the Kwannon of upbringing" for a easy delivery and upbringing.
