"I was asked for salt By a pilgrim who has been walking Under this terribly burning sun" (Hojo Okada)
We can see many pilgrims in Sairinji Temple that is the 48th temple of Shikoku eighty-eight sacred temples.
Hojo Okada had many Haiku titled pilgrims and this Haiku is one of them.
This monument was built by the members of the local Haiku gathering, "Izayoi-kai", and others on a lucky day of July, 1973 (Showa 48).
