In 1900(Meiji 33), Toshio Takahama was born the first son to father, Kyoshi and mother Ito at Sarugaku-cho, Kanda, Tokyo. His real name "Toshio"was given by Shiki. He had took "Toshio" as a pen name of Haiku since 1938. In 1934(Showa 9), he came back to be Haiku originator after working for the private company, and made efforts in composing and disseminating Haikai beside Haiku. He had written "Haikai"(1938) and "The guidance of Haikai"(1946).
In Apr., 1946(Showa21), he had been left the administration of Haiku magazine"Hototogisu" by Kyoshi and became the selector of "Hototogisu" since No.3 in 1951(Showa 26). Consequently, he had been the president of "Hototogisu" in fact as well as in name. In Apr. 1980(Showa 55), "Hototogisu" got to No.1,000. He long-awaited this day but he died on 26th Oct. of the year before at the age of 78.
It was said that for Toshio, this place was remembered in connection with that
Kyoshi's eldest brother "Masatada Ikeuchi" had been lived this site, and Kyoshi had visited "Aisho-tei" lodged by Soseki.
