ˇÉThere is no human figure in Sugitani-cho, the bamboo thicket is rustling in the autumn wind" (Shiki)

This Haiku appeared in th Shiki's poetry "Sansaku-shu".
Sugitani-cho located in the nothern foot of Castle Hill and faced the street continuing on the skirt of Shinonome Shrine. By the change of residence indications, the name of Sugitani-cho had changed into Midori-cho and Nishi-ichiman-cho.
There used to be the bamboo thicket rustling in the wind, the clumbling mud wall, the remains of Mr. So-and so's residence pulled down and so on.
And there were vegitable gardens here and there, and the quiet street of the samurais' town. It's unimaginable from the present appearance of the town.
