Habu Elementary School(an alley of Haiku Village)

"How many autumns passed away while I don't look at Mt. Ishizuchi and don't see my mother" (Hakyo Ishida)

In Nov. of 1961(Showa 36), he received a telegram informing him of his mother's critical condition from Matsuyama, Shikoku. Fortunately, his mother's condition was not so serious, but this homecoming had been last in his life.
It was very imaginary that the mountain in his country home he had looked at in his childhood and his mother's face would turn over his mind in the train rushing toward his contry home. At that time, he visited Habu Elementary School he graduated from. This monument was built in Apr. of 1971(Showa 46).

"Alley of Haiku Village"
"Haiku Bulletine Board"
There is "alley of Haiku Village" of about 30 meters on the western side of the main gate of Habu Elementary School.
On the both side of this alley, many trees, "Ibuki", "Keyaki" and so on, are growing in line. The Haiku originator of of our native province, Hakyo Ishida's monument and the bulletine board exhibited children's Haiku lie at the end of lane. We can look many children and tourists strolling in this alley.
