(Baioku Ohshima)

This haiku monument,that Shiki's discipleˇ¤Baioku Ohshima's(his real name is Yoshiyasu")haiku was carved on,was built at the main gate of the Buddhist temple,Chokenji. This haiku, reading the scenic spot in Matsuyama into the passage, was praised very highly by Shiki.
The expression of "Masterpiece" was presented too, in exactly same form as it appeared on the above right part of "the manu script on the opening of Shofu-kai". This is Shiki's marvelous hand writing!
Shiki's haiku, in the haiku poetry, "Sansaku-shu" said that Baioku Ohshima made a tour from the foot of the Hospital (Shinonome Highschool at present) to Bishamonnten Slope, Rokkaku Hall, Senshuji Temple, Parade Ground and Sugitani-cho with the four of Shiki, Aisho Nakamura, and Gokudo alias Kyokudo Yanagihara.
At that time, the wild chrysanthemum used to be trembling in the breeze.
In the precincts, The Haiku monument of Santoka and his friend,Ichijun Takahashi face each other.
