"A brush warbler come flying
From the Castle Hill and sing in
Town for descendant of samurai"

This Kyoshi's Haiku appeared in the Haiku magazine "Hototogisu"(March 1904).
Town for descendant of samurai located around the foot of Castle Hill. This Haiku monuments was carved by making a copy of this Haiku put on the two-folded paper that Mokuzen Sakai had posessed,to commemorate that Kyoshi visited Mokuzen Sakai in his Takou Hermitage. This Haiku momument is placed at the entrance of stone stairs of Matsuyama Shrine. In Spring, we can hear the lovely warble of bush warblers in the shrine trees.
