Miss Sute Tohda's Speech at Opening Ceremony 1887(Meiji 20)
It had been said that "Madonna" in Soseki's novel "Botchan"(Mr.Tohyama's daughter) was modeled after Miss "Sute Tohda" who got into Matsuyama Girls' School (The predecessor of the present "Matsuyama Shinonome Highschool") in 16th, Sept. of 1887(Meiji 20).
It was not long before the number of the student were going on increasing after the school was open, so that Matsuyama Girls' School moved to the remains of Matsuyama Junior Highschool that had been closed (The present NTT at 4-chome, 1-bancho location). The prosperous Opening Ceremony of the school took place in 5th, Nov. of 1887(Meiji 20).
At that time, Miss Sute Tohda delivered congratulatory speech in behalf of students at school.
