This is the remains of Seigetsu alias Hantaro Murakami's residence. This building consisted of the grat of terraced house, the main building and the storehouse.
he named this residence "kofu-Kyo". It had been said that this building was built before more than hunred years and had the appearance suitable for a man of property.
In 7th, Oct. of 1895(Meiji 28), Shiki visited this residence by a jinrikisha ( a rickshaw) according to the prearranged guidance. he wrote in the haiku poetry "Sansaku-shu", "It is next to the shrine, has the pine wood for a background and the imposing residence in front of the sorehouse".
Shiki discussed here about poem and haiku, went out the shore of Imazu and went round the village, wrote the draft of Haiku and left in the evening. In addition to this, Meisetsu Naito visited here and had the discussion of Haiku all day long in Nov. of 1894(meiji 27). In 1st, mar. of 1896(meiji 29), soseki Natsume visited here with Kyoshi Takahama and composed Haiku called "Shinsen-tai" that was carried in the magazine for literary critism "Mesamashi-kusa" volume 3.
