Shurindo Nomura (1893 - 1918 )Shurindo Nomura (his real name is Morichika) was a genius for the free style Haiku, born at Kosaka-cho, Matsuyama.
He loved literature since his boyhood and learned at the night school of Matsuyama (Japan High School), since 1907 (Meiji 40).
His pen name was "Hakuyou" and he started to compose Tanka (a Japanese poem of thirty-one syllables) and Haiku. At the age of 19, he founded the Haiku association "Izayoi-gin-sha" and became the selector of the column of Haiku world in Kainan Newspaper, at the age of 20. And then he became the selector of "Souun" edited by Seisensui Ogiwara, his teacher, at the age of 23.
He was hoped to for the editor of "Souun" to succeed Seisensui, but he died of influenza on Oct. 31st of 1981 (Taisho 7).
It had been said that Santohka came to Matsuyama to visit the grave of Shurindo that he adored and to restore "Izayoi-gin-sha". In 1939 (Showa 14), Santohka and Ichijyun Takahashi restored "Izayoi-gin -sha" and named it "Izayoi-sha-the association of persimmon".
