Gudabustu-an was Soseki Natsume's lodge house. "Gudabutsu" was another name of him. This lodge house was located at a side alley conecting 2-bancho and 3-bancho, around the Japanese-style restaurant "Tenpyo" of presentday.
This lodge house was the annex of Yoshikata Ueno's residence, and its tatami floored room, both upstairs and down stairs, was consist of 8-mat and 6-mat room.
This is the remains that two of the great names in literature in youth have lived together under the same roof for 54days. Unfortunately, it was completely destroyed by World War II damages without leaving any trace.
